Is there someway to bypass entering the security code when you call your voicemail from the cell phone?

Yes, by changing the phone number.  You need to add a pause (a comma) and then your security code.  So for example, the voice mail number becomes, 800-555-555,1234.  A comma adds a 3 second pause allowing the voice mail to pick up.  You may need to add a second pause (comma).

The only problem I've found is that it doesn't seem to work consistently and I don't know why.

If you would like to program your Android device so you do not have to manually enter your password each time when checking your voicemail messages, please follow the instructions below: 1. Select “Menu.” 2. Choose “Settings.” 3. Choose “Call” or “Call Settings.” 4. Choose “Voicemail Service.” 5. Select “My Carrier.” 6. Choose “Voicemail Settings.” 7. Tap “Voicemail Number.” 8. When your device displays “*86”: enter “PP” after *86 followed by your voicemail password and the “#” key (no spaces). If your device does not show “P” for “Pause” as an option, press the “Sym” key and choose “Pause.” 9. Touch the pound (#) key. 10. Touch the desired option keys. • Pause - Inserts a two-second pause between the number dialed and the additional numbers. • Wait - Inserts a hard wait that will cause the system to wait for additional input before continuing 11. Tap “OK” to save this information. Note: Once you have set up pause-dialing, simply press and hold “1” to access your voicemail and it will automatically enter your password.
