Volume issue on new Droid X

I traded in my BlackBerry Storm for the Droid X. My Storm was having charging issues about two weeks prior to the Droid X release. Im going to take high-def video (with Droid X) of me running over the Storm with my car while turning the wheel back & forth a few times.
My ONLY complaint so far is the volume is not nearly loud enough.
For such a powerful multimedia device with a beautiful screen, it has a very WIMPY volume when at Max setting. I hope Motorola addresses this in a future firmware upgrade (or some druid hackers).
Has anyone else noticed lack of volume? I've seen one other person with Droid & their volume at Max setting was same as mine.

You are correct, the speaker phone and media volume are very low while on Max. The ringtone max volume is not that great either. With my past Motorola products a user created fix soon follows for this issue.

It's not that you don't hear the text alert. You may not be getting it.

Just talked to tech support about this issue and I was told several times that this was the first they have heard of this issue so I directed them to all the post on this subject and they reported that there wasnt any information on a fix at this time, they wanted to replace the device because they say they think it is a device issue and I informed it they could possible have tech support look into this problem because I did not believe that the new device will resolve this issue and they stated they will report this issue for a followup..... We shell see.

This is definitely a unit by unit, or a batch by batch, issue. Some have it, and some do not. However, this does not mean that there cannot be a system/firmware update fix for it. If enough people call in, report the problem, and try to get higher level tech support looking into the problem, then if a firmware fix is possible, they would include it in the next update - even if it only applies to certain Droid X units.
One thing I was wrong about in my separate special post is that people should be calling Motorola as well as Verizon, and maybe even just Motorola. Apparently, Verizon does nothing about fixes or updates. Motorola does it all for them. (Of course, Verizon gives them info about their network and what constraints they want with/on their network and all. However, apart from that, Motorala writes all the code for updates - at least that is what I am told).
At some point I'll find the best number and procedure for reporting this problem with Motorola. In the meantime, anyone with a speaker volume problem should contact Verizon SECOND LEVEL TECH SUPPORT and get the problem documented as described in my separate and special post on how to do so; I did not realize before how easy it was to get them (second level tech support) on the phone. Do this and follow the instructions in my special post, for all of our sakes (who are in this volume problem boat).

I agree that there is a volume problem with the Droid X, which I otherwise love except for this volume problem. The volume is low both on the earpiece and especially on the speaker phone.

Actually, I found this thread because, at max, my volume is very low as well. I keep missing calls if I have even the slightest background noise. An example would be if my phone is in the living room on the coffee table and Im 10 feet away in the kitchen cooking dinner, not a great amount of noise ... I can't hear it ring.
or
I am in my truck driving and have my volume up on my radio and no, not too loud, It's hard to hear.
The speaker needs to have about 25% more volume to do it's job I'm guessing.
In fact it's very low compared to other phones.
And no, I will not bring my beautiful new droid x into a messy and wet kitchen while I'm cooking my dinner.
Is there someone I can pay, like a cell phone shop to upgrade my cell phone speaker? How do I go about getting the volume to the correct level ? Or do I need to return my phone as defective?

The problem isn't the equipment I believe, it's the max volume setting for the ringer. I had the same problems with my Q9c and then an update was released. I imagine Motorola will release a min-update to fix this issue. I've missed calls myself while I've had the phone in my pocket. To get around this I've been used the Ringo lite app and added Ring + Vibrate.
Earlier today I actually heard my vibrating phone from the other room while I could not hear the ringer. It's definitely an issue they will be looking at.

It is official: the late night July 19th update does not address the volume problem. The volume problem is now documented on every Droid X forum on the internet (as well as every Android forum that discusses the Droid X in particular).
What do we have to do for Verizon to acknowledge this problem and propose a solution to it?
Maybe the speaker hardware is faulty. Maybe the phone is not sending enough power to the speakers when they are set as high as they go. It is easy to document this volume problem with minimal sound/audio equipment and even with simple comparisons with other mobile phones. Bottom line is that many, many, many users cannot even hear their phone ringing, or even hear what the phone voice is saying when you run "Voice Commands", for instance.

I find it utterly ridiculous that a company (Verizon/Motorola) put millions of dollars in these phones but yet have the simplest of issues. So much hype and build up around this phone but little do people know they can barely hear it if its in their pocket.
Is the Droid X a better phone than my previous Blackberry Storm..sure...but at least I can hear when someone calls/text me. Oh and at least on my storm I can get facebook notifications. But now on the almighty X i cant? get real.
