When enabling my wifi service at home, the wifi shuts down my 3G service (which from what I have read is a normal process to save battery life), but my phone freezes up when using the web browser on the wifi connection. I have to keep rebooting my phone 3-4 times while trying to turn off my wifi before my phone returns back to normal operation. So when I'm at home, I don't even bother to turn on the wifi and just use 3G.
For some reason, this doesn't happen on my work's wifi. Is this an issue with my wireless router or my droid? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

I just read your post again and noticed you said device locked up and required force reboot,,,, Try testing these options:
1. Have you update firmware on router
2. If you dont have a N band router, disable the auto scan option that routers usually have.. Try a fixed B or G transmission because the scanning option causes this because it adjust to device and does not know how to handle a wireless N connection.

I'd rather he give you the details, but essentially, it turned out that his router was the problem.
This is definitely one of the more odd issues I've seen with the X.

Change the sleep setting for wifi should resolve this, goto Settings - Wireless and Network - Wi-Fi Settings - Left Menu Button - Advanced - Wifi Sleep Policy and change to "Never"

I'm wondering if your phone is freezing, or just going through a soft reboot (only takes a few seconds) and after a soft reboot, my phone was essentially "frozen" too.
As Gerio mentioned, I fought this for a month and two replacement phones. I used wifi at work, too, with no issues.
Follow wildman's suggestions and if you don't have an "N" router, pick one up (under $50), keep the receipt, try it and see if that solves the problem. It did for me.
