WIFI

Hi Everyone,

I just bought the Droid Incredible yesterday and am still learning how to use it. Please bare with me. I've never had a smart phone before so I don't quite understand how the WIFI works on it. Can the phone can pick up the internet in any area that has WIFI? I know this is probably a dumb question for those of you who are more knowledgeable than I but I am so confused right now that I am not understanding it. Also, how does Verizon charge for that service overseas? Does anyone know what the rate would be? I suppose what I really want to know should I take a netbook with be or can I just use my phone?

Thank you so much for your patience and for your answers,

Viana

If the WiFi connection is Open, the phone will work off that signal. But you will have to set the phone to notify you when you have a signal nearby. But setting the phone up that way is a battery user as it is constantly looking for a signal.

As for WiFi overseas, if an open connection, the device' will connect and work.

If asking about phone service, it will depend on the country you are going. The phone will work only in countries that have CDMA Cell service.

You can also just look for a wifi signal manually whenever you want to use it. If your in an area overseas with an open wifi network, then it won't cost you to use it. Keep in mind though, that its only fore browsing the web and such. If you use the phone to call then it'll cost. When you go to settings and select wifi, you can select to turn it on and it will look for and list any available wifi networks. Some may be private and password protected and some may be open. I usually just try to connect and see if it prompts me for a password or not.
