Warranty Question for Droid 4?

My phone has stopped charging and I haven't used it in 2 months. A new charger bought from Verizon did not charge it either. As far as I am aware there is no water damage (I have not dropped it at all or in anything), there is no physical damage, minus minor wear and tear, no scratches on the screen Still under warranty, but I do not want to send it off because I am scared it will not be covered. by warranty. I am aware that Verizon will try to find a reason to not cover it, just because they can. The question is if I send it in and it is not covered, what charges am I looking at. I AM NOT BUYING A NEW PHONE.. In fact if it is not covered I will be cancelling my service. My phone has been kept well protected with screen protectors and shock absorbers and well taken care of. So if it is not covered I am done with this service. What charges will I be looking at.

ceelove27,

Im sorry to hear that your device will no longer hold a charge. I can say from personal experience it drives me crazy when technology does not work the way that it is designed to, so I can understand what you are going through. In regards to the phones protection. As long as your device is still covered under the one year manufacture warranty and there is no physical or liquid damage, the device can be replaced at no cost. Provided below is some additional information regarding our device replacement program http://bit.ly/pBjESP.

Thank you,

So you are concerned about getting a replacement, sending in your old phone, and then being told it was water damaged/dropped etc and not covered?  Not sure of the charge, it *shouldn't* be quite the price of a new phone (since they only sent a "like-new" but it will be a lot.   In that case you may want to ask for the phone back and return the replacement, but I have heard stories where that wasn't easy either.

You could instead send directly to Motorola for repair:

This is free within the warranty period, except if they decide it isn't covered, so it's a question of whether you trust them more than Verizon.  People normally don't do this because you have to send the phone away without a replacement, but if you haven't used yours for more than two months, that might not be an issue.

Also, how did you buy it?  If you paid full retail on a non-basic credit card, you might have coverage there.  If you got it as an upgrade, might be more difficult (as there are different interpretations of buying the item entirely on the card, if there is a subsidy involved).

And the easy bit, if you cancel the Early Termination Fee is 350-10*(months you have been on this contract)
