I have apparently lost the ability to edit my own Posts. So the Word above should be emergency. and relates to 911 calls from a locked state.

I believe they are speaking of a 911 call from a device that has been locked with a code rather than the slide lock.
lol @ edit. I think you can no longer edit a post after 30mins - 1 hr. At least some forums are like that.

Well this is what I read on this subject:
Emergency calls
Note: Your service provider programs one or more emergency phone numbers (such as 911) that you can call under any circumstances, even when your phone is locked. Emergency numbers vary by country. Your pre-programmed emergencynumber(s) may not work in all locations , and sometimes an emergency call cannot be placed due to network, environmental, or interference issues.
- Tap Phone (if your phone is locked, tap Emergency Call).
- Enter the emergency number. (such as 911)
- Tap Dial to call the emergency number.
Note: Your mobile device can use AGPS satellite signals to help emergency services find you. CLICK HERE for more details.
I JUST TESTED THE 911 EMERGANCY AND IT WORKED WITHOUT ISSUES, when you get to lock screen all you have to do is click Emergency Call and dial 911 and the phone icon ans call goes through (Even if phone is turned off)

Wildman, I tried this and it didn't work. Where on the phone did you tap? I was tapping on the locked screen itself.

On my "X" I also use a passcode that come up after the slide to unlock. Below the number pad when it ask for my passcode are two buttons..... 1) "Emergency call and 2) "Emergency Contacts"
If I don't use the passcode function, than after sliding to unlock, anyone can call everyone.

I think I get it now. Because I don't have a LOCK Pattern or Pin setup, I don't get the Emergency Dial Icon.
I think I can see some holes in that logic, but what is, is.
Thanks for the research and help.
