That isnt an easy question to answer because people use their device for all sorts of different things.  I use it for music...often.  So, if you want good streaming music, download Pandora and Slacker apps.  For me right now, Pandora gets my vote as my favorite app.  But, i've tried and downloaded and installed hundreds of different apps for different reasons.

Oh...also any of the Emulators for the old gaming systems.  Snesoid is a blast!

I don't have my phone with me now,so have to think of the apps off my head.

  • aTrackdog= Uninstall apps & also you can see the top 100 most popular apps in the market
  • Basketball shot= Fun fun basketball game. You just shoot basketballs into a net while being timed
  • Labyrinth 3D= It's a 3d board game with a marble. You have to avoid the holes & make it to the end spot
  • Carrom3D= Another game, but it's a pool game. You can play with your friends, by yourself or other android users
  • Where's My Droid= If you put your phone on silent & need to find it, you can just text your phone with the secret word. It'll ring with this app!
  • SMS Backup= Saves your text messages to your sd card
  • 1001 cocktails= Alcoholic drink recepies available
  • HI AIM= I like this app because it uses data as instant messaging instead of it counting towards your text messages
  • HandcentSMS= The most popular messaging app. It has more feautes to offer (change front, change color, change buble color...etc)
  • Ringdroid= Create ringtones. Either record ringtones or make ringtones out of the songs in your phone
  • Ringo Lite= Apply ringtones to text messages or calling ringtones (can be applied to contacts too)

The most "needed" apps I would say get would be where's my droid, sms back up, hi aim, handcent sms and ringdroid

Easy. The way I do it is I open a CD in iTunes. Then I can just drag & drop songs directly into the sd card music/playlist folder

That question is very subjective. What is the best apps? They are the apps you are interested in. I downloaded some games, some literature, some business apps, Opera Mini, Pandora, Calvin and Hobbes, Task killer and a few others. Of these, I use the business apps and literature most of all. Task killer runs in the background. One piece of advice I can give when looking at the apps, read the revues.

I think the phone is a great music player.  The sounds are crisp and the interface is straightforward.  I use windows media player to synch to my phone.  Put the CD in your PC and use WMP to rip it to your phone directly. You can choose to rip in MP3 or WMA.  I use WMA because at the same compression size you get better bitrates.

And, since we are talking about Apps...i forgot to mention that instead of the default music player, i use an app called "Player"  interface is familiar and it works like the standard player but provides access to artist info/ lyrics and i think more file compatibility.

fyi...i have about 10gigs of music on my sd card and xfered them to a folder i made named "music"

Also, watch out you don't xfer any DRM protected music files, the X won't play them.

Bar none...

Wifi Analyzer

If you're someone who needs internet connection 24/7, anywhere you go and minimize your 3G/EVDO usage to keep you cellphone bill down you'll want to get Wifi Analyzer.

It graphically displays Wi-Fi signal strength in your area... among other things...

And best of all it is free!
