Which one?

I currently have a Droid X, which I've had for about a year and a half. I am very happy with it and use it more than I do my laptop. I am wondering, when my time to upgrade arrives, which one? Right off, it will not be the Droid X2, that is for certain. Currently, it's between the Motorola Bionic and the Motorola Razr. There are only a few differences between the two. Cost is one of them. However, what bothers me about the Razr is that it has an unremoveable battery. Yes, I've had to do battery pulls on occasion. How many of you are bothered by the fact that a cell phone has an unremoveable battery? One reason I did not go for an IPhone.

I agree - that would be a deal breaker for me as well.  I like being able to have a 'stand by' charged battery for travelling.  I'm in the same boat as you and am just planning on holding out for a while -- maybe even for all of 2012 just to see what other options become available.  I just don't care for the Camera on the DROID platform - it is way too lethargic and the quality of the pics just aren't there for me. Thankfully I don't use it as my primary picture capture device vs. my DSLR. Then there's the whole issue of getting timely & WORKING OS updates. The whole Froyo & GB thing has left a sour taste for me ... although overall I am fairly happy and like the DX - it's just that the MOTO OS updates seems to lag & they aren't listening to us.  So I'll just wait and see & research over the next year and make the decision when I'm ready; or my DX dies.  God luck & let us know what you deicde & your experience.

I, too, wonder about the non-removable battery.  I wouldn't be worried so much about the battery needing to be replaced, as I've never had to replace a cell phone battery.  They've always lasted as long as I've had the phone, and I typically keep them well past the earliest upgrade opportunity. But just the other day my DX just wouldn't wake up after I had just been using it and had hit the top button to shut off the screen.  It would't respond to anything.  I'm not griping about the phone -- I love it!  But I did a quick battery pull and all was well.  That's a rare event lately, but I wonder what I would have done if it was the Razr.  Maybe there's a reset button or something?  I don't know.  I agree with how you've kind of narrowed it down to the Bionic or the Razr.  I like Motorola products.  Sure, there are issues, but I think they're worse with other manufacturers.  I like Motorola.  I just do.

Comparing the Bionic to the Razr, except for depth, they are fairly equal in size. The other big difference is in the front facing camera. The Razr has a 1.3 MP while the Bionic has a VGA (not HD). The last big difference is that the Bionic is $50 cheaper. If you want to throw the HTC Thunderbolt into the mix, that is $150 cheaper, but has less memory, thicker in depth and smaller in Height and Width. The Thunderbolt is not even being considered. I like both Motorola and LG brands. As far as I'm concerned, they are the two top brands. Samsung products come in a distant third. I do not know enough about HTC to comment on it. Never owned one. I wonder what the Nokia smartphone is like. I remember when Nokia was King.

bionic has a lot of issues on their forum & the razor is out today.

You're right, let the dust settle. I have time before I can update. As for the Bionic Forum, I just now checked it out. Several of the complaints weren't even Bionic related. In fact there was one from a Samsung owner. Quite a few of these complaints appear to be Gingerbread related, the same problems a lot of people with Droid X's are experiencing since the release of GB. A few of them could come under the title, "Shot myself in the foot." In other words, self-inflicted errors. I'm still leaning toward the Bionic instead of the Razr. BTW, there are some revues on the Razr since some got their's on the 9th instead of today..

Well i got a Hands on look at a Razr yesterday before it was re-leased to the Public an i'll have to say its got a nice wide screen an i like the the way the buttons were mounted on the side an i also liked the way the way the HDMI an the plug in for the charger is an the camera is a little more snappier than Bionic. But there were a few things i could've done without or i wished Motorola would've done Different.

1. Is the side slot for the Mini Sim Card an Sd Card when i opened it to see how they were housed in there they wanted to come out an when they were trying there best to do it. It caused the Razr to want to repower up so i think moto could of found a better way to pute them in there an if your a type that likes to open the side slot alott it'll were the plastic into after many opening an closings or it looks like it could. 

2. since the battery is not changable an they're using what there calling a Kevlar back it does make the phone extreemly light i can take my battery out of my X an the Razr is still lighter than it. in one way this is good in another way i like my phones to weigh alittle more than that. But i still like the Razr

3.This is a thing i noticed an then seen it pointed out on A C is that when on the Google market or when you Downloading something on the Internet it promps you to use Wi-Fi instead of using the Network an this does this more than once to some it's going to be a Neusence but i did'nt look farther into it to see if there was a way to shut that fature off i asuming there is but if it can't as i said it may drive some Nuts an on A C they said that the Rezound may have this Feature as well as Verizon is trying to get us to Use Wi-Fi more than the Network.

All in all the phone looks good i did'nt get to do a hole Bunch with it as a few others wanted to play with it so i Gave it up. But i will go back an look an try out some more features in future Visits to the Store an i can't waite till the Rezound comes out as well to check it out. B33

O ordered a Razr today. The lady I spoke with at Verizon made a good point, wht would Motorola and Verizon sell this phone if the battery life were that bad since they would be gettina alot of returns. I will see on Tuesday

All depends on what you call bad. All smartphone batteries are not the greatest in lifetime. My point isn't the fact of short lifespan, but there are times that you must do a battery pull. Since I have had my Droid X I've had to do two or three of them. Hard to do a battery pull if you can't get to the battery.
