I'm looking to update from the Droid X. Was looking at the Bionic, but I've seen a lot of reviews that are more negative then positive. Disappearing apps, when stored on the sd card, poor data connections, BSOD"black screen of death", and a problem when using a headset. I've already experienced the long waits for updates on the Droid X, to fix software issues. Just don't know where Android is going, Buy a phone, it has a few issues"some major", wait a few months for an update to fix those issues and hope it doesn't create more. I was hopping that at some point, there might be an Android phone that work at least at the 90% mark "minor issues". I'm not bashing Android or the Bionic, just would like a phone that works out of the box, no major issues. Is there major issues with the Bionic, that require resets, battery pulls, and hard reboots to fix? How many times per month, if any, is it required? Is the bloatware getting worse or better? Thanks

I'm gonna just cut to the chase and strongly suggest that you wait a few weeks for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus to come out. The Bionic, shall we say, hasn't shaken out so well.

I think the Bionic is fine and has actually gotten favorable reviews as a whole. Are there negative reviews? Of course, ALL phones have plenty of those.
As for Samsung? Never again for me. I've had two and I'm done. More flaws than I care to discuss. My Samsung Charge was the last Sammy I'll ever own. My Bionic is doing far far better than my Charge ever did.
I really like the new Razr, but I'm concerned about battery life with a sealed battery.

Glocker, it's my opinion that Apple devotes their efforts to ONE phone for months (sometimes more than a year), while many different Android manufacturers spit out multiple Android models almost monthly.
Android manufacturers are in a hurry to release the latest and greatest to compete with ALL the other Android phones.
The "Android community" seems to be always trying to one-up each other with bigger, faster and more bells and whistles, while Apple releases what was basically an iphone 4 1/2 to "record sales".
Why? Read through the forums and you'll see.
And no, I haven't jumped ship, yet and I don't blame anyone that has.

An except for the Antenna issue a time back they're phones have been consistant in realiability an there apps are a touch more secure than ours i would say your not going to find Nasty apps or as much on an iphone to were as on Android you hit search an you can get all you want. But with a word of Caution i would stay away from them. B33

Kidding, of course. 5 days, no data drops, no dropped calls, battery lasts all day, no freezing, haven't rebooted it yet. Plus I've figured out how to load my own ringtones. What can I say?
I'm still interested in seeing the Galaxy Nexus in action, but this has gone from a last resort to being settled in quite nicely.
But I doubt it's won me many friends around here,

I had the Bionic from day 1. I got worried when I, along with several dozen folks, had to have our Bionics activated by first inserting the SIM card into a Thunderbolt to get it activated, then finish the process in the Bionic (this after 24 hours of waiting, and this issue seems to be related to non-4G areas). It went downhill from there. I had my 3rd replacement Bionic for 5 days when I threw in the towel and went with another phone.
Issues where a lot of folks have problems with a phone, but other folks don't, make me think that the network may not be working consistently in all areas. And I have (some) faith that the upcoming update will help with some of the issues going on.
Enjoy that working Bionic. I wish I could have.

Not concerned about making friends. More concerned about how many friends I "talked into" buying Android that aren't happy with their phones and/or why I "mislead them".

The small(er) display has been the only downer and since I carry both iPhone and iPad around now, the phone serves as, well, a phone and a hotspot mostly.
And my few friends stayed with their iPhones while I went Android. They nearly fell over faint when I showed up with the iPhone.

I loved my original Droid. And I never minded comparing it to an iPhone. However, I don't feel that way about the Bionic. I am very disappointed and I get madder every day. Check out the forums at Motorola too, there are lots of angry folks there. November seems a long way when you use your phone every day. I am getting the impression that Android has become helter skelter.

Joey"
I sincerely hope that the new crop of ICS-equipped Android phones such as the Galaxy Nexus, the Razr, and the Rezound can remedy that.
As for November, yes, it was too far away, I couldn't wait. It cost me dearly, but it couldn't be helped.

gerio, November is only a week away. So, I think I'll wait it out till the middle of November. I'll see what Google has to offer, but after doing some reading I just don't know any more. I started with the original Droid, it had its problems at the beginning, but updates to fix them where quick 1-4 weeks. Now an update to fix problems takes months. Plus Android is still fragmented and last year Google said there were going to resolve that issue. Gingerbread is up to 2.3.7 and the Manufactures are only up to 2.3.4 if you were lucky, now Icecream. Great hardware, is worthless with out solid software. If I have to jump ship to get a reliable phone, that's what I'm doing. Good luck with your Iphone, friend has one and the camera is 100% better then the one on the Droid X.

He said the final straw went like this:
He heard a funny (obscene, but funny) joke and thought he would text it to me. I think you know where this is going........
The mysterious "Android text issue" came into play and the text didn't go to me.
Who did it go to?
His mother-in law.
