Shouldn't the Droid acquire the data through the WiFi network and not show on my usage chart?

That's a great question MPchair! If you're connected to WiFi, it's best to turn Mobile Data OFF so that you're not defaulting back to Mobile Data if there is a low WiFi connection or if you fall off. This way you'll know exactly when you're using WiFi/Mobile Data, and when you're not. And not using Mobile Data, if its not your intention.

If you're on wi-fi then just turn off the mobile data then you won't have worry about it.
