Why is my Droid Mini eating my messages?

I have tried everything on the troubleshooting page, but more often than not I'm not receiving several messages from at least one of my contacts. I have tried everything on the troubleshooting page, but nothing works. I'm only receiving a few of the messages my best friend sends me, and the rest are lost in space. PLEASE HELP!
