If I keep the phone on the USB port in the car will that be sufficient to run the GPS function for a long trip? The USB cable is much more pliable than the auto charger cord is and will be more out of the way.

I can't give you a definite answer if it will work with your Toyota. I will say it shows charging when I plug it into the USB port of my GMC Terrain. Fortunately for me the combination of the Verizon car power cord, the cardock ,and the Garmin Nuvi bean bag mount work perfectly together in the Terrain.

So it is not even a 'powered' USB port. Good to know. No wonder they don't publish any output specs. LOL

This is interesting. I bought the $40 Motorola Car Kit from Verizon and took my USB cable (I have several) connected to the Camry USB port. The phone charges. I suspect sometimes the auto folk don't always know their product either. We'll be on the road tomorrow. If I find anything different, I'll post.

I have the same car and same phone. I found that if you use BT streaming, it will play internet radio stations from winamp using shockwave. The thing I'm still trying to figure out is how to change the stations through the steering wheel. Being a software engineer and this being one of the perks of owning an Android smartphone, I can write something to do this if there isn't something available already. Or maybe I just haven't tinkered with the setup enough to get it working. <shrug>
If you have this working or find a solution can you please post an update? I will do the same.

It depends on the actual power output of the USB port on the Camry. I was not able to find any published specs for the USB port output but to run the GPS and charge you will need at least 700-750 ma (0.7-0.75 A) output.
Check your owners manual to see if it describes the USB power output specs. My experience has shown most to be around 500 ma which is too low to simultaneously run GPS and maintain charge of today's smartphones.
As recommended, try it out but keep a car charger handy in case of problems
