Would appreciate some help - not sure what just happened?

This is my first post to the Forums, and I have only had my phone for a couple of days (I've never had a smartphone before either), so please bear with me if I sound completely ignorant.  :smileywink:

I just got my HTC Droid Incredible over the weekend and I have fallen in love with it!  I had no problems until just a few minutes ago.  I went to answer a call, but accidentally hit the button to end the call.  I just hit the "phone" button to get back into the phone dialer where I could call them back.  At this point my screen just went black, and eventually brought up a little red triangle with a red exclamation point on the screen.  I kept trying to turn it on but nothing would happen, so I took the battery out, put it back in, and turned it back on.  It turned back on, but it brought up a screen that had a little picture of a Droid character and it had several menu options (One of them was recovery, can't remember what the other ones were).  I kept hitting the volume up and power button and finally the phone turned back on, and now it seems as if everything is fine with it.  Does anyone have any idea why it would do that, and what menu option I could have selected?  I am afraid I did something that will mess up the phone.

Thank you in advance for your help!

I am not sure what you did to get to where you were, but if the phone seems fine, it shold be ok. But if you have only had the phone for a couple days, you could take it back for a new one or do a master reset as you have most likely not personalized the device too much.

But I would have chose recover......

I am pretty sure "Recovery" was what I chose.  But I just also wondered what would happen if I had accidentally chosen something else.  I love the phone and spent pretty much the whole weekend adding different apps and personalizing things, but if I have a bad phone and need to take it back, I would gladly do so.  I just hate to take it back if there's really nothing wrong with it...I just don't know why this would happen.

You may have just hit a series of keys to cause it. There are many hidden menus. I would just watch it.

I have had the same phone since the day it came out, I still love it.

I will keep an eye on it - thanks!  I'm just beginning to think that making the move to a Smartphone was a bad idea...I think the phone is smarter than I am! :smileywink:

If ya have questions, post them here, there are many Incredible owners here who love the device as much as you do.

one more bit of advice. if you only add one or two apps each day, it will be a lot easier to narrow down an issue in the future. if you throw 10 apps on it in a day and something goes wrong, it's tough to figure out which app (if it was a bad or buggy app) caused the issue. just a suggestion. i usually add one or two and then wait a day or so to make sure they don't cause any problems or interfere with other apps.

If you are really nervous that something could be wrong with it, take it into your local Verizon corporate store and have a tech look at it.  If they find something wrong they will have it replaced for you.  You have to remember too, now it is only 14 days to get another new one.  The no longer have the 30 day trial period.

Also, to help you learn about your new Incredible, there are classes at the stores.  Each store has a specific date and you can get the info at the store and sign up online.  You are paired with a rep who has your phone and he/she will go over the specifics and ans. any questions you may have.

Enjoy your Inc.........it is a great powerhouse.  take advantage of the class........well worth it and fun too.

I really appreciate the helpful advice!  I got the phone from Best Buy, so I don't know how helpful their techs would be.  I am sure they are not as knowledgeable as the Verizon reps, but I chose to get the phone there because it was free.  I have had absolutely no more problems with the phone and I have used it for just about everything I can think of, so I think it is okay.

I will definitely download the user guide, and will look into those classes.  Thanks so much!  :smileyhappy:
