Wrong Network/Location and General Funky Issues

Yesterday, my HTC Incredible was acting a bit funky.  It would flip from page to page, enter text in Messages that I didn't write, etc. Rebooted, continued to do the same. I've read a bit about viruses affecting Android phones via crap apps, but I'm not a big app user, apart from stuff like the facebook app, a conversion app, etc. Certainly haven't added any new ones in the past few weeks.

This morning it's showing the wrong time, which caused me to wake up late, as I had the alarm set. I'm located in Landrum, SC and it has my location on the clock (which is set to Automatic - network provided values) as Faridabad (India).  I can fix this by turning off Automatic in the local time settings, but would prefer to use it and have it work.

Any ideas as to what would be causing this?

Thanks guys. Woke up yesterday morning and the issue had resolved itself - the location/time was back to where it should have been. Since it was set to Automatic, I'm assuming this was just a funky Verizion/network issue. Here's hoping it doesn't happen again :smileyhappy:

Make sure that the optical joystick is clean free from dust or other debris. Do a factory reset in case you do have a virus. During the factory reset you will be prompted to do an OTA programming which is *228 option 1. This SHOULD resolve your issue, of course if it doesn't there may be something wrong with your phone.

Before a factory reset I would delete any apps you loaded recently. Many times apps cause a conflict or are corrupt and will cause issues. Try that and see if the situation clears up. A factory reset clears everything so you need to save to your PC any pix, contacts,  texts, music and such before doing the reset.

I have had the same issues today.  All of a sudden my phone's location on the weather widget went from New York, NY to Mysore India.  I don't know how this is possible.

I've done a reset, a soft reset, deleted my weather data but nothing seems to work.  I'm hoping this will not be an issue tomorrow.  I use my phone for scheduleing and this is a problem when my phone thinks it is 9 hours ahead....

Any help from users would be great! Thanks.

I had the issue this weekend, I just powered down and powered up the device and all has been fine since.
