Yahoo email issue... Starting to get crazy

Ok I have had 3 Yahoo accounts configured on my device without any issues for almost a year but now Im starting to have a repeating situation that I am having issues troubleshooting, recently I have been having a error on retrieving one of my Yahoo email accounts, when it attempts to update email for this account I get the attached notification.....
"Unable to connect to moto-android.smtp.mail.yahoo.com" .
I am contacted Yahoo and Google and searched a number of sites and havent found a solution and I was wondering if anyone has ran into a answer for this situation?
Starting to think Yahoo is experiencing issues of some sort because normally I seen the Invalid Login once and a while. The strange part is I have more than one Yahoo account but only the one has issues.. Another strange thing is it starts downloading emails and the throws up the connection error but still gives me notification of new email from account...
I have removed, and entered it back in several times with no luck.

thanks. somewhat different than the way i use yahoo webmail, which i don't use much.
then why no entry of servers for gmail?
The reason Google does not show on the Yahoo page is vecause they use their on server to handle their email accounts, this is why Google has its own email client installed on the device

Maybee it wants stall alittle before pushing thru.
I attemped to remove the new add ons listed on Yahoo site and without those added the email and contacts wont sync at all because that seems to activate a handshack to allow data to be connected to device. Kind of a unique method but it seems to work... Until Lately
Does anyone know why there is a Delay: Now as for my BB it never had this issue But i know BB use a different an better Server.
I think the delay is related to the server because Yahoo is using a connection more close to a HTML protocal verse a push format, BB has their own server that recieves info directly from pop and imap servers and instantly pushs the data to device as soon as it recieved the connection from email client.

Wildman,
Wow! if you can not find a fix then we are indeed in trouble...I, like many on here always look to you for a solution and advice. I too had problems with my Yahoo account after the GB update. I ended up removing and re installing my account which now works sporadically in regards to notifications of new mail and the connection error. Some days it works flawlessly and others it does not and I have to manually "fetch" my mail? I have talked to several C/S people at Verizon Corp. Store(s) and they do not have a solution either except to do the factory reset. I have been there done that. It didn't help..... Before the G/B update it worked great.

Wildman, have you done the cache clear? This seems close to the network error I was getting and the cache clear has fixed. Then again it could be an issue between Verizon and Yahoo. Does being on WiFi make any difference?

I am actually having the same problem. It started yesterday (June 18th, Saturday)
I even posted to Motorola droid x forum last night.
https://supportforums.motorola.com/thread/52670?tstart=0
Then, I was only able to see error messages on logcat.
This morning, I started seeing the same thing as you are seeing with yahoo smtp server. But, for me, it gives me nothing, not even notification.
I am wondering if this has to do with recent Yahoo mail upgrade that they had. Another thing I noticed was that battery life is terrible now. Probably because the device keeps trying to connect and download messages?
I am extremely annoyed by this.

I too was wondering about the recent mail upgrade that Yahoo might have had recently. Perhaps someone from Verizon who monitors this forum might get the ball rolling to find out what the problem might be with Yahoo mail? It seems as though the problem has become wide spread with those having Yahoo e-mail accounts on Verizon...... Step up and give us some help or a solution. I will repeat myself, it started after the G/B update.

I too am having this same issue. My father and I both have the Droid X and we both installed the new not so improved operating system, and now neither one of us have a working yahoo account on our phone. The best solution I had was to make the trip to the Verizon store and see what's going on. We explained to the Verizon rep that we had just upgraded and now yahoo doesn't work. My Dad was getting the message that it wouldn't connect to the server and I could not get emails without manually updating everytime I went to open up yahoo. The Verizon rep had the best solution ever and he said... "I don't know what's wrong just download another version from the market!" Apparently he doesn't download apps on his phone because things can go wrong, so he just uses his Android for phone calls. WOW.
So here we are after numerous resets, reinstallations of the yahoo account and still it doesn't work. Congratulations to Verizon, Motorola and Google for making such a well thought out upgrade that no one knows what to do to fix it, but I guess that's typical from a this company, so I don't know why I should be upset.

This is tied in with the way Android is able to communicate with yahoo server...

I have troubleshot every possible issue before I posted here, I have also send email to Yahoo and Google because the way that the email is handled make it a bit hard to figure on whos part the email is failing, I am starting you think is does have something to do with the uprade that yahoo recently did.

Yes I have also gave clearing the cache a try to attempt to resolve this issue with no luck..

Wildman,
I don't use Yahoo, but the only thing I can see that seems odd is the server name. Does that match what Motorola has in their master list of email settings? I don't have quick access to the link for the list since I uninstalled Dolphin Browser.
Android emails for Yahoo is sent through a Yahoo host system in order to complete the connection to the pop server system the Yahoo has for mobile device access and the address doesn't seem odd because of this connection method. (See first post of extra connections that is added when you set up a Yahoo account on a Android device)

I hope this can be troubleshot and resolved, I am starting to wonder if Yahoo may be trying to restrict Android devices from their pop servers again without paying the monthly fee they have setup.

Haven't seen any yahoo errors but the last few days was getting gmail errors saying authentication error. I have noticed with yahoo recently I get email alerts every few emails rather than every email.
I believe this error is a diffrent situation, maybe a setting on the device..
Thanks for all the suggestions but at the moment it appears I have tested all angles suggested with no luck but I really believe the latest update from Yahoo servers is the root of the issue but until I am sure I will keep testing, thanks for the feedback and hopefully a solution comes soon.

My last email on my Droid X was at 5:19 pm on June 21. I've received many emails to my yahoo account since then but none are showing on the Droid. The manual fetch isn't working. I sent an email from the phone to both my yahoo account and my work account. Neither received it. I've restarted a couple of times and shut down and pulled the battery. Still not working.

@the5threvolutio, I see you are still having this issue with your Yahoo account. I just want to verify you have the correct email settings. Here is a link to Motorola's website that has common email settings and are known to work. Please make sure your settings match. Also, try deleting your email account, clearing the cache from your email and readding again. To clear your cache, go to: Settings>Applications>Manage Applications>All>Email>Clear data/cache. Let us know if this resolves your issue.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

It's working again for me today.
I don't know if they fixed it its something that I did.
For past couple days, I had yahoo account deleted from the phone and I just used yahoo android app.
Today, I decided to try adding the account again, and it worked. I uninstalled the yahoo app now.
Since I am not getting the error message I used to see through logcat, I am guessing that yahoo fixed its imtp server for motorola.
