I contacted Verizon Wireless about this problem, and basically they told me there was nothing that they could do except download the yahoo app. I think that is ridiculous, because you have to manually go into your email. So I have to check it every 5 seconds? CRAP! He told me there was no timeframe for this to get fixed and that yahoo is basically not obligated to do anything. How are we supposed to get this fixed? We paid good money for a phone that will not work correctly and are expected to live with it or pay full retail price for a new phone? I don't understand how this is fair. I am very unhappy with how they are reacting to this situation, there should be a recall or something on the phones. He told me specifically it was only droid charge phones and he had several calls the previous day with the same issue, but gave no solution. I hope someone actually cares to read this and understand how many customers are upset with this situation and understand why they are switching companies. I find this ridiculous but most of all unfair to anyone who is having this same problem.

I also reset my phone twice, and even tried a new email address, still nothing. Unfair I tell you!

This has been an on-going issue for me for over two weeks now.  I think it's crazy that we can't get an honest fix for this.  The option to add the account using IMAP is not the same as the function of the native Email application that we all signed up with.  Verizon needs to find out what changed between September, and October of this year with Yahoo!  I rely on my Yahoo email, although if they're purposely hindering this function... akin to iPhone and Flash, then I would have to consider taking my business away from yahoo, and moving on with another Gmail account, and forwarding all the messages from yahoo so that I can check it without manual updating.

Per Christina's recommendation, I deleted all my Yahoo email accounts on my phone this past Saturday (22Oct2011) and re-added all but one choosing Others for account type, manual setup and IMAP protocol.

 

To date I have not gotten any sign in errors associated with those accounts. I'm still learning the differences between IMAP and POP3, but at least I'm not constantly signing into my accounts to get email.

 

I added one minor Yahoo email account choosing Yahoo account type, and auto configuration. That account still spawns sign in error messages on my phone.

I thought about doing that, as well. However, unless I read it wrong, Gmail states it will only pull email from another account (i.e. Yahoo) for 30 days. After that, the account holder has to arrange for POP forwarding at the source (i.e. Yahoo). And unless you have a Yahoo account that is different than mine, Yahoo requires an upgrade to a paid account ($20/yr) before allowing a POP forwarding service.

ive been having the same problem for like 2 weeks now. i spoke to tech support at verizon and they told me that Yahoo mail doesnt work with Android and that the stock app isnt good so i should download the official Yahoo mail app...and the Yahoo mail app doesnt work either. I never get my emails and its super slow. 

 

Ive been having a ton of issues with my droid, and im past my 14 days to exchange it. ive been battlling with verizon. and the guy told me that getting a refurbished replacement phone would solve my issues....ok but if Yahoo doesnt work in general then getting a replacement phone doesnt solve my email issue does it??

Based on what I've read about the quality of support people typically get from Verzion store reps and Tier 1 support online, I'd recommend checking out one or two other forums (perhaps non-verizon ones that focus on your phone's specific model), before turning your phone in.

 

I have a Samsung Droid Charge and found an online forum for that specific phone.

 

There are sadly very few properly trained tech support folks employed and it can be pretty tricky for the average customer to connect with them to get the right advice. It seems you actually stand a better chance of getting decent help from other customers who are going through the same thing with the same device.

 

I really don't like to face the fact that these days, in spite of what one pays for the device and service, one cannot always get high quality products and quick, effective support from the companies that profit nicely from what they've sold, but it's the annoying truth.

I went to yahoo mail from my computer and changed my password and then changed it back. After reentering one last time it hasnt asked again yet.  I just did it last night but usually it would ask several times throughout the night/morning.
