If you have the phone holstered, it won't work. If you have it in a docking station, it won't work. If you have it face down, it won't work. If you want the alarm clock to work, just lay it on a table, face up. Make sure the sound is set on a high level.

Are you using the built in alarm app or different app that you downloaded from the market? Have you tried clearing/resetting the alarm?

I have mine in the docking station at night, with the alarm set. It goes off every morning, just not as loud as I would like, er, I need.  It does work, just not correctly. I hope this will be fixed. Doesn't make sense that if you use the alarm you can't dock it.

Are there any good 3rd party alarm clocks?

I use mine in the docking station, and it works fine.  I have it set to start the volume low and build from there.  And after 5 minutes, if I haven't turned it off, it starts a loud buzzer.  (But I have never gotten that far)

I can understand that some need it to be very loud.

Thanks, Gator1 - I will take a look at it. I saw some apps, but didn't know if any were worth using.

What I have found to be the biggest cause of the alarm apps not working is the App Killer programs. I use Advanced Task Killer and when I kill apps after I set the alarms, the alarm doesn't work. My solution was to add the alarm apps to the Ignore List in the Advanced Task Killer App. I haven't had a problem since.

I see that I had my alarm set to vibrate (which it does). Now, my thought was that the alarm would sound AND it would vibrate. I am thinking that I can't have both. I will test it next week to see if the vibrate off if I will now get the alarm rings.  The dock does not block the speaker and the speaker works fine for mail notifications when it is in the dock.

thanks for all the help and tips everyone.  The task killer seems to be it.
