can't setup new account

I am trying to setup a YouTube account so I can upload videos.  Two problems:

- YouTube is not one of the dozen-plus add account options, so I picked Google

- every time I put in my username and password it says it can't make a connection to setup the account. However, I'm having no trouble surfing the Web, accessing Gmail, etc. etc. etc.

Anyone have any ideas on what's going on here?

This may be nothing may than a simple software issue. I recommend performing a hard reset then re-enabling the sync. The steps to perform the hard reset are below:

To reset your phone to factory settings and erase all The data on your phone,

Touch Menu

> Settings

> Privacy

> Factory data reset

> Reset phone.

Warning: All data on your phone will be deleted.(Nothing on your memory card is deleted.)
