cannot get smartermail login dialogue to sit still while logging in

We use Smatermail Enterprise 7.3 to host mail.  I'm trying to log in via the Droid X browser.  That requires entry of an e-mail address and a password. 

 

This is not 100% reproduceable, but I did confirm this with another Android user, so I'm not the only one who sees this.

 

When I tap on the e-mail address, the keyboard appears.  But the moment I type the first character of the e-mail address, the keyboard hides and is replaced by the login form that suddenly jumps into that part of the screen.

 

Has anyone seen anything like this?
