Yep - I had an Otterbox on my DX and as soon as I took the case off of it one day about a month or so ago, the performance from the phone improved drastically so I never put the case back on it. Of course now without a case the performanc has gone back down the crapper, but I really do think a case is worthless due to it affecting the performance of the phone, although some people do actually need them to keep from destroying the phone

I purchased a third party holster case for my Droid X. Every time I woke it from sleep, it went into the car dock, even though I do not have one. Nothing serious, but annoying. I found out that it was where the magnets are placed in the case which can cause strange things to happen to your phone. I broke down and bought a shell and holster from Verizon and have had no problems since.

These phones tend to heat up pretty quickly if they are struggling getting a strong "signal" ... I notice it from time to time when it bounces between 1X & 3G. When I see this going on I'll tend to just toggle it into Airplane mode for a while. Of course when I do that I have no Phone Call ability, but can use WiFi for other stuff if needed.

Hey Vereye on my X it gets warm from time to time but not enought to pull the cover if i'm streaming Winamp is usually when it or my Inc. gets that way but i don't remember mine getting that hot like you said yours got to pull the cover an when i'm home I always try to use the Wi-Fi. I asume all of does so we can get the Maximum speed out of our X's as they Don't have LTE.
P.s Read were Verizon is thinking of doing a thing i'll call it were when you need more speed you can Pay a little Fee an you can get a Boost in speed of cource we pay enough already but if this would work across the Board for all phones that would'nt be to bad to get a alittle ( "BOOST " ) when needed an during the Hollidays we may all need it.! Your choice! Bear I've got Unlimited Data as well but when at home Both of my Phones Are on the Wi-Fi...My phones work more efficient using this method an i've saved lots of battery by doing this as they don't have to pull from the Towers ever 2 seconds to get an update fix.
