changing contact type

How do I change a contact type from "phone account" to "google account"  once already entered?  I can do it for a new contact but I don't know how to do it for an existing contact.

You can't change the contacts from a phone contact to Google contact. The only way to move those contact to Google is to export the contacts to the sd card. Copy that vcf file to your computer. Log in to Google from your computer. Go to the contacts section of your gmail account. Import the vcf file into Google. Do any clean up you may encounter. Go to the phone and delete the phone only contacts and then have the phone resync from Google. Settings > accounts > gmail account > the sync now option

Thanks Ann154 for resolving this for the OP.

 

DRHIGG, adding to what was said, if you don't have many contacts that need to be changed, you can delete the contact (write down the information first if necessary), and access your contacts through the contacts icon. Ensure you are in the correct group (either Phone or Google) and add the contact the the appropriate one.
