I'm taking my Incredible to Europe which is 220v power (as opposed to 120v in US). From the manual it looks like the phone can handle 110 - 220v. So does that mean that the phone figures out the voltage itself and regulates it and I would not need a converter (just an adapter so the charger fits in the european outlet)? I don't want to fry the phone when I plug it in.

As long as the phone charger says 110-240VAC, 50-60hz you will only need the outlet adapter. Can always charge off of the USB on your laptop.
I took my phone to Germany last month. Couldn't use it because the incerdible is not an international phone, but I kept it charged.
Same for my laptop. Charger worked fine.
