data connection issues...again.

I am having issues with my Charge again.  I have to restart my phone to get 4g, and I can no longer pick up 3g.  This has happened before and Verizon could not resolve the issue.  They had me restart my phone multiple times and factory restore it.

I have come to a couple of conclusions about the Droid Charge:

1.  The Charge uses the 4g sim card for 3g authentication.

http://www.howardforums.com/showthread.php/1703825-Thunderbolt-and-ALL-future-4G-VZW-devices-require...

2.  No data issues:  Sometimes my phone loses connection to 4g and 3g.  Could have something to do with conclusion 1?  My phone doesn't want to switch from 4g/3g or 3g/4g.  So if I boot my phone in an area that has 4g, I get data.  When I move to an area on 3g I no longer have data.  Moving back to a 4g area does not help, unless i reboot my phone.

Does this mean that the 4g network is experiencing difficulties again?

Also, does anyone else feel like VZW changed up their forum structure to make it harder for us to collectively complain to them?  example, I no longer see a 4g forum where we could all get together and say if our data was down.

I think you should get a NEW Sim Card from Verizon.

But in the mean time make sure the SIM card is FULLY inserted.  Better yet, remove the battery, the SD card, and the SIM card.  Leave the battery out of the phone for a full 15 minutes.  Then re-install the SD card, the SIM card (push it in fully) and then the battery and re-start your phone.

By the way, if a new SIM card does not fix it, do you have a 45...Just Kidding.

I tried your suggestions, but it didn't work. Smiley Sad  This phone is great when it works.  I just don't know why this keeps happening.  I guess I am going to have to call VZW.  I really do not want to though.  Hopefully this time around they won't make me factory reset my phone.  Last time the tech said that they logged a case, a few days later I got a call from a network guy and said that they couldn't find anything wrong with my phone number.

I really like this phone when it works and it has worked more times than it hasn't.  The problem is when it doesn't work.  VZW cannot figure out why, which is UNACCEPTABLE.

Molocules,

When switching from 3G to 4G or vice versa, there can be a delay in switching from one technology to another. Turning the phone on airplane mode for a few seconds and then back off, normally brings the data back. If the data is not coming back at all, then there is a problem. Please check for updates to make sure you have the latest software version. If we have already submitted a trouble ticket, and the phone has already been factory reset, we may need to replace the phone thru warranty. Has the phone been replaced before? Also, make sure if you have any battery saver applications to uninstall those as they can interrupt data.

Please let me know,

Hi! my phone would not pick up 3g data. if i was in a 4g area i could

pick up 4g, but as soon as i left the 4g coverage area i would not be able

to get 3g. it would only switch to 4g if i toggle air plane mode or

rebooted the phone.

The problem has gone away. i do not understand why this keeps happening.
