Hi ClulessCutie,
I understand the importance of retaining your test message. I am glad to see that you have adjusted your settings as an attempt to prevent your messages from being deleted again.
Additionally, you can visit the Android Market to download an application that can back up your text messages. Please keep in mind that most applications in the Android Market are not created by Verizon Wireless. If you have a concern about a certain non- Verizon application, feel free to contact the developer of the application. Hopefully my suggestion resolves your issue.
Thank you for your patience,

This is not a known issue with the Droid Incredible. I recommend checking your text messaging settings (Steps below). You can also view the Droid Incredible user manual via the link below. Pages 74-75 list the steps to check all of your messaging settings.
http://support.vzw.com/clc/devices/index.html?p=5269
- From the Home screen, touch the applications tab (bottom of the screen).
- Touch Messaging.
- Press the Menu key.
- Touch Settings.

NOT a known issue????? Must of dreamed about all those messages here in the forum,
To the OP, have you adjusted the text delete limit that was automatically set at 200 when FROYO was pushed????
But I can attest it does happen.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

I have encountered this same problem on several occasions and lost some very important business messages. I have adjusted my settings and just waiting to see if it happens again. If so, I will be replacing this phone with something else.

Same thing happened to me - TWICE. My settings are correct. I do NOT have any weird apps on my phone. It just randomly decided to delete them - ALL of them.
Very frustrating indeed.
