downgrade?

I like my droid but I am having a hard time trying to pay for it. I've had it for months but I would really like to get rid of it. I have an old phone that still works so would I be able to downgrade to the old phone? I have a contract though so would I still have to pay for the droid even if I can downgrade?

If you purchased the phone directly from Verizon, you're free to downgrade and sell the phone at anytime but you'll still be under contract for the remainder of your terms and unable to upgrade.  If you purchased from wirefly or some of the other 3rd party retailers, you may get hit with a secondary ETF for modifying your plan features if you haven't had the phone longer than 6 months.
