droid wont detect the right location

Im not sure if I have a settting wrong, but for some reason my droid will not detect my location. It always says that I am in the next city over at an adress I never even heard of... Is my phone defective or is this just the way it works?

settings>location&security>use wireless networks (activate) and activate GPS satellites

by activating "use wireless networks" your phone will be detected right away, more accurate

add the widget "Power control" to your home screen so you can access these two options immediately. it will also help you save battery power as you can deactiviate them once you finish with the gps and not have to navigate to the settings everytime.
