Since gbread update, every couple of days, when dialing out, the call ends immediately upon apparent dialer completion. Only a reboot (2-3 minutes) restores call completions. Have researched this problem on the Moto Forums and seems to be a common problem. Factory reset has not solved the problem for those who did. Is Moto/Verizon working on a solution??

Hello claret123,
I know how frustrating it can be not being able to successfully complete a call. We are aware of your concern and my recommendation is to keep following the same steps you have been for now. Please remove the battery for about 30 seconds, re-insert the battery, turn on your device and attempt to complete the call. In the future if we have additional information regarding this we would let you know. We appreciate your patience with this matter.

I am having this issue also, I have tried the battery pull and all that does is reset the phone, I have also just shut the phone off and then restarted it, and I get the same results, I have just cleared the data for the dialer hoping this will resolve the issue. I do know clearing the data for the camera app resolved the issue I was having with the image freezing as soon as the camera app was opened. I will report back if the problem continues.

I, too, am having this issue. I've also noticed that text messages will not send when the issue presents itself.

Might try a binary search down through the Apps to sse if one or more of them is causing the malfunction.
Remove Half of the Apps
If the Problem goes away, reinstall Half of the apps that you removed
If the Problem returns, Remove half of the apps that you just reinstalled.
etc. etc until you find the offending app.

I have the exact same problems as listed in the other posts. Is there any resolution to this yet? I upgraded to Gingerbread in May 2011 and ever since then I have had serious problems with texts not sending, not being able to make calls, the display going black, etc. I have pulled the battery probably 5 times per week to deal with it. Very frustrating!

Add me to the list but my phone usually reboots itself about 4 times a day anyways so its hasn't been too bad but this does happen at least twice a day for me. I am taking my phone back it was a warranty replacement and the constant rebooting really makes me think there is something completely wrong with it. Glad I am not the only one with the dialer/text/data issues.

I believe clearing the cache and data for the app under Settings / Applications / Manage Applications / All Tab / (App Name) is the best solution and should work to clear up this issue.

This also resolved an issue with my camera app, Verizon tech support was going to send me a new device happily I didn't have to go that route

Which app(s) did you clear data for? The dialer app, or all of them?
Thanks!

I only cleared the phone app, but I had this happen to me againI'm contemplating how I am going to proceed st this point.
Adding to what was stated Kooshie, please try to clear the cache data in the Dialer app. Go into Menu > Settings > Applications > Manage applications, touch the app in the list, then touch Uninstall (for apps you downloaded), then tap Clear cache. You could also try running in Safe mode and see if the problem goes away. If it does then maybe a 3rd party app on your device is causing the problem. Below are the steps for going into Safe Mode. This will allow you to access the device with the original software and settings. Also, I am providing a link to our website for further reference and even access to the user manuel. I hope this helps.
1. Power the Droid X off.
2. Press and hold the Menu button on the lower-left side of the screen.
3. Keep holding the Menu button while the device starts until you see the Home screen load. It should say Safe Mode in the bottom-left corner of the screen. To take the Droid X out of Safe Mode, simply power the device off, then back on.

I used the app aLogcat ( http://www.appbrain.com/app/alogcat-%28free%29-logcat/org.jtb.alogcat ) to capture the radio logs when this was happening to me. They are big and have personal info in them. Does anybody know if there is someone @ vzw whom I can email them to?

I have 2 Droid X phones on my account. Both of them are having the same exact issue. Only rebooting fixes it. How convenient.
