I pushed "clear History" and now I cannot get the contacts list to show when the contact icon is pushed. When I push the contacts icon it shows "no communication history". The only way to see the contacts is to push the "menu key" and then "Search". How can I get the contacts list back so it will open with the contact icons??

Touch contacts and then look in the upper right corner, see three little circles, one will be red. Swipe the screen left or right to go to another screen; Contacts:History,Contacts:A-Z, Contacts: Status.

There is no need for Backup Assistant if you use a Gmail account and use Google Contacts. You can set the phone to automatically sync your contacts with Google Contacts, thereby backing them up in the process.

I use backup assistant and have had no issues.....yet. I do have a gmail account and wonder how to back up all my contacts with goggle contacts as I am not familiar with this. The other thing is, since I have backup assistant on my phone now I think the only way to delete it is to do a factory reset and not install backup assistant in the process, correct? I would appreciate help on how to use and find goggle contacts to backup everything.

google only backs up google contacts, not phone contacts.
you can log into vzw website and export your contacts from backup assistant, then log into gmail and import them
the will then goto your phone as google contacts
in settings you can turn backup assistant off
you can also shoos not to display phone contacts if you like
