I downloaded the OTA zip file from the Internet and renamed it to UPDATE.ZIP and put it in the top level directory. I did the manual boot (down volume plus power button) and loaded the new update. That is a manual update that results in the exact same update as if VZW had sent it to my phone. Thus, there is a manual option. I did my Froyo update in the exact same manner a year ago.

Ummm.... No,
That would be for the Droid 2 Global:
"The update to Android 2.3 for the Droid 2 Global from Verizon has been stopped and suspended until further notice."

the original poster asked if anyone had received the update yet. another member replied yes and that he had done it manually and went on to explain how. the original poster accepted that as a solution. and it's a pretty good solution if you ask me. no root required and you can install it yourself.....rather than waiting for the OTA (which could be a couple of weeks). they push these updates in batches over a 2-3 week period.

The update is rolled out in waves and can take a few weeks to filter to everyone. You just haven't gotten it yet. Have you tried to manually pull it down to your phone? Menu button > settings > software update > check now.

I'm most definitely NOT a VZW employee. If a post answered your question, please mark it as the answer.

Same here still waiting on the first update, I had a message to install on the 15th, I click install, it disapeared and nothing happend, and I have not gotten anything, tried manual update from "about phone" nothing, I got 2.2 it says I'm upto date.
spend 4 hours yetsterday on the phone with vz with no help, I have seem more info on the net then I got from teh vz tech after 4 hours.
vz tells me to talk to htc and htc tells me to talk to vz, this is just a joke, htc and vz shold both be ashamed of themselves.
