i have a gmail account, how do i set up a pass word to enter my gmail account to keep anyone from viewing my gmail, my phone is a droid bionic

Try setting up a screen lock.

I think the option is available under:
Settings > security

i use a screen lock & it gives me some peace of mind if i misplace the phone.

I would have to agree with everyone else. It would be best for you to set up a lock code/pattern on your phone in order to keep unwanted guests out of your personal email and other applications on your phone.

 

To set up a Lock Code

From the main screen, touch menu tab
Touch Settings
Touch Location & Security
Touch Set Up restriction lock
Tap Enable restriction lock
Prompt displays to enter password, enter password and confirm, tap apply
