gmail wont sync

i have tried everything that has been recommended to re sync my gmail account but it fails everytime, restarted, checked make sure auto sync was checked, pulled battery, pulled hair, dont want to have to wipe it and start over but i guess it will be my last straw, spouse had same problem with same phone at the same time and wiped hers, now no problems but i work and cant afford to lose what is on my phone, i phone 5 is in my near future if i cant get this solved

With the username and password that you have, can you sign into your gmail account online?

No problem signing in through the internet, just wont sync, wont accept
password when it tries to sync

Oh no! Sounds like you have been through quite a lot to get this to work. Let's get this fixed. Google recently released a new verification process for Gmail accounts that allows the account to become more secure. The process is called 2-step verification, 2- step verification allows the customer to ONLY sign into certain Gmail programs with their normal password. Other applications requires the user to actually go onto a website to create a temporary password "the link is provided below" (https://accounts.google.com/ServiceLogin?passive=1209600&continue=https://accounts.google.com/Issued....
