Sounds like you may have a app open in the background that has permission to track location and this will make the gps stay active more often, you can get a task killer and go through and close one app at a time until the gps icon goes off or you cn just go into Settings / Location and Security and disable the GPS all together.
called today again finally just sending me a replacement ugh finally mabye i can finally stop stressing over my cell....i cant wait to hear calls not overheat and depend on tasks not occuring when they arent supposed to lol.

Replacement device may resolve overheating but the other issues you reported sounds like software no hardware.
