I have been looking at this phone as well and from everywhere I have looked they say the internet is the best you could EVER get. From all the videos I have seen there is no pixelation(spelling?) the websites run smooth, and everything is completely loaded.

There is no mutlitouch browser installed in the phone and you can download that but they say it slows it down, but honestly I think it is cool but not really a necessary thing

i have heard a lot of great things about this phone but i have never had internet on a phone and most of the people complain about how fast it is or the size of the screen, before I committed to paying 30 extra bucks for the internet I thought I would get some of your thoughts as how well you enjoyed browsing with it.

I was pleasantly surprised how good this little phone works as an Internet browser.  It's bright, clear and the extra 54 pixels really make a difference in landscape mode.  (854 vs. 800 for all other phones)  It means that site pages actually look decent and usable.  Double-tapping for zoom or using the zoom control is something I quickly adapted to. My previous phone was a HTC Touch Pro 2, no slouch either but I prefer the Droid screen.

BTW, Youtube videos look great if your using WiFi so that you get the maximum resolution with HQ/HD encoded vidz.

The two-hour+ video of the Pasadena U2 concert is one example.

One severe limitation at times is the lack of "Flash" but it seems that this will come early this new year.  I hope so.

Yea the internet is the best out there I have it and love it. Youtube videos even on the 3G network are Great in high quality you dont really need the WiFi.

FLASH WILL come out for the droid in the first half of 2010 it says it on the adobe site. So once that arrives the internet will be complete with nothing missing at all.

From what I have gathered, and tested AT&T and Verizon are pretty much neck-to-neck in their 3G Speeds -- I feel strongly that Verizon's is better soley because they are everywhere I go, whereas AT&T not so much.

I have had the Droid since its debut and I can honestly say that the Internet is the best I've ever used on a phone.  When I am using my WiFi connection, it seems to slow down a bit, though.

Not sure exactly what you are referring to, but your Internet experience on the phone will be directly related to your connection/service.  The browsing is the best I have ever used on a phone and the phone itself performs well in terms of speed and functionality.  However, again, what most people think of as "the Internet" is going to be related to how fast web pages load and appear.   Where 3G service is reliable, the performance is good.  When the phone switches to 1x it is not so good.  WiFi on a fast network is very good.  When tethering is officially available, I would expect it to be as good or better than any other phone, but still not on par with a good WiFi connection.

Overall I would rate the Internet experience better than any phone I have seen or used, but still not as good as, say, a well-equipped laptop connected to a fast Internet connection.

Speaking of connection quality, here's a photo showing a sample of my WiFi vs 3G speeds in Kilobits per second.

Since my WiFi is dependent on my cable modem service (the bandwidth is shared), I get better speeds during off-peak, late night hours.  It seems the 3G is also dependent on network usage in my area, which is Westwood, near UCLA.

(The 3G results have the little cell tower icon)

Thanks for the help, I had talked to a lot of different people about having the internet on there phone and most of them said that they really did not use it that much. I do like to look up different things and I can see how having it at hand would really be nice. Right now I have an alter plan and I am paying 40 dollars a month, , but before I committed to the 2 year plan of paying around $95.00 a month, for the internet and all the cool APS. I thought I would get some of the peoples opinion who had a smartphone, I realize everyone needs are different but like I said right now my internet usage is at work or at friends houses and I do plan on getting a laptop in the next few months. But I would in a lot of ways like to have the internet on the go as well, just was unsure about committing to it.. I ask those who did not use the internet that much if they would continue with the smartphone plan and they said yes.. ..
