Turn the phone off?  If that's not an option, set it to silent so the notifications are not heard. 

Do you need the phone to be silent?  Do you not want the notifications to interrupt what you are doing on the phone for a short time span?  What is your purpose for "stopping all notifications"?  That may help us to give you options.

Another option is to place the phone in Airplane mode.
