is the screen supposed to rotate?

Happy2bmeagain

I used to have the Droid and I seem to remember the screen rotating when you turned the phone. Is my Droid X supposed to do this as well? My Droid X only does this when I'm texting or email. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Yes... I am assuming you are using 2.2 and it has 270 degrees of rotationso check Settings/Display/Auto Animate Screen option, check this option and this should work unless you installed a app like Launcher Pro because it has a option to control this under. Desktop/Prefremces/Behaviour Settings/Enable Auto Rotation.

I don't think the auto rotate works on the 7 Droid X homescreens either.  At least it doesn't on mine, and I have 2.2.

Oh no! Do I have a problem and don't know it?  I remember it didn't rotate when I was using 2.1 either.

:smileysurprised:I stand corrected (Thank You for pointing this out), I have been using Launcher Pro since day one and I forget the stock interface lacked this feature.... I activated stock and this does not work but for all users wanting this option you may want to try Launcher Pro.  It is better than the stock app in everyway and screen rotation works..

I think I may try  Launcher Pro. Is it alot nicer then the stock one? Also, can I go back to the old one easily if I don't like it? I assume I get this app on the market place?

Yes you can get Laincher Pro for free on market and if you do not like it (But I dont think you will want to) all you have to uninstall and the stock one will become default again.

I've noticed my Droid X will glitch every now and then and auto rotate my home screen... I don't have launcher pro because I happen to not like it.... but I'm sure this might be something Motorola is working on... :smileyhappy:

That a surprise, I noticed nothing but lag with stock blur UI, I haven't had nothing be smooth response from device with LauncherPro installed...  And as for power hog that is another surprise, I only showed 3-4 % of battery use, I show a number of other apps installed and stock apps at a higher amount of power drain.

it wasnt that it showed a high battery use but that my phone went from lasting like 11 or 12 solid hours to about 7 or 8 with the apps but i did like them dont get me wrong just wish we had the htc version ...touch sense or something like that its just so much smoother feeling but maybe this next update will drop all of our jaws ...or at least smile lol

You should maybe try ADW launcher as an alternative......you can download it from the market just search "ADW launcher". I use it and I have no complaints.

Just tried to check this but mine doesn't give me the option to auto animate. Thanks for the suggestions. I just dread going to the Verizon store because it takes sooo long to talk to somebody.

Sorry that was my mistake, it should have said "Auto Rotate Screen" and I meant to say it was above the option saying "Animation"
