I think the Task Killer may have done it if you sometomes kill all.
With 2.2 Task Killer is really useless IMO.
Aside whether or mot to use ATK, get the app SMS Backup. It will send copies of all texts to a file of tghe emial address of your choice so if lost, you still have them.

ok so i deleted my task killer app completely a month or so ago. and today, just lost all my text messages again. what causes this? i don't have a bunch of apps, and my messages are NOT set to automatically delete, and never has been.
anyone have any suggestions?
i don't want to download any other app in order to just keep my messages saved somewhere else.
i just want to stop losing them.

I lost all my text messages twice now as well, the latest occurrence being some point last week.
Additionally, what made me visit these forums... I just lost all of my contacts.
This is absolutely unacceptable.
Mess with my text messages, fine... mess with my contacts now we have a serious serious problem.
Anyone experiencing the same?

I have provided some information below that may help.
Step 1 – Uninstall any messaging/anti-virus applications that are not native to the device (if applicable). ***Anti-virus software and non-native messaging applications have been a common issue in this type of situation.
Step 2 – Reset the messaging application
-Press Menu
-Select Settings
-Select Applications
-Select Manage Applications
-Select All
-Select Messaging
-Clear data, cache.
Step 3 – Complete a soft reset.
-Power the device off
-Pull the battery out for 20 seconds
-Place the battery back in
-Power the device back on
