loss of data on memory card

i recently lost all my data on the sd card. picked up my phone and it said i needed to mount the card. (which has been in the phone since i have had it)

i took the card out and tried to read it on the computer, except it asked me to format the card first (which i didn't). i had numerous pictures and hours of audio on the card which i must get back. how can i get it all back?

Try this.

First I would reboot your phone THREE times in a row.  If this does not fix it see next idea.

Touch Settings> SD card & phone storage.  Does it say Unmount SD card or does it say Remount SD card??

If it says Remount, do it and reboot your phone.

If it says Unmount try touching Unmount first and the touch Remount and reboot your phone

if your computer cannot read it, then it sounds like your card is corrupted.

with the card in your phone and the phone turned on, make sure enable USB debugging mode.  also enable the option to "ask first" about connecting to USB mass storage.  then plug the phone into your computer and see what comes up.  if your computer asks to scan the card or skip, press skip.

Mrsoc,

Here's one more thing to try.  TOUCH Settings>SD Card & phone storage and then choose Unmount SD Card.  If this is not possible just continue with what I said below.

Remove your battery, the SD Card, and the SIM card.  Leave them out for a FULL 5 minutes.  The re-install the SIM Card, the SD card and then the battery.

After your phone restarts TOUCH Settings>SD Card & phone storage and try to Remount your SD card.

If this fixes your problem re-boot your phone one more time.

i found the debugging mode and enabled it. i plugged the phone into the computer. it installed the driver software and then nothing.my phone asked me if i wanted to turn off the debugging . (which i didn't)  i open computer and go to the drive it is recognized when i click on it it says to insert a disk into cd drive???

insert disk?!?!?  what the?!?!?

are you able to check this on another computer?  I don't think that you'll need to install a driver just to view a flash drive (which essentially what your SDCard becomes when connecting to a computer).

within the phone, are you able to pull up any pics/videos via the gallery app?  if so, then there's something wrong with the connection.  if not, then either the card has been wiped clean or is corrupted.

aside from that, try getting a new SDCard and see if the problem persists.

One more try:  Touch Settings>Applications>Development and then make sure BOTH  USB Debugging and Allow mock locations are  UN-checked.

Then try to connect your phone to your PC using the USB cable so you can see the data on your SD Card.   If this fails MAYBE your SD Card was erased/deleted.

The reason that I believe it may be something else than your card having no data is that brand new phones start out with an EMPTY SD Card.  Yes it could be corrupted but the only way you will find out is if you re-format the SD card and find that it again works properly.  Before doing that you might AGAIN try to see if your PC can read the card.  It would be great if a friend had a charge phone to try your SD card.

PS,  If you backed up your contacts to Google or Verizon Backup Assstant can you get your phone to copy the contacts from Google or BU-Asst to your phone.  I really doubt this will work but I thought I'd ask anyhow.
