lost sound on receiving text. had before. new phone

this phone purchased 12-12-14 is a Droid Mini.  Had sound upon receiving text but now not there.  Can't seem to figure out where else to check.  Sound is checked and set to loudest.  My wife's works ok.  these phones are replacement.

Hello twinann!

I'm terribly sorry to hear that your phone isn't getting sound! If you purchased at a corporate Verizon store, or on our website, you can exchange it for a working device within 14 days of when you purchased it. Have you tried pulling the battery out? Was the text from a regular contact, or somewhere else?

I apologize for the confusion! The Droid Mini has a non-removable battery. Has the phone been exposed to any physical/water damage? Have you recently downloaded any new applications?
