missing Market app

I can't find my Market app. I've had my phone for about 2 weeks and it was there when I got it. Then I was having some e-mail issues and called Verizon for help. The tech had me do a hard reset and it hasn't been there since. I've turned on/off my phone and removed the battery hoping it would reappear. I also went to Settings-Applications-Manage Applications-All. When you look at the list, I have "Market Updater" but no "Market" on that list. Any ideas how I can get it back?

Try these steps:

Go  to Settings.
Then Applications.
Select all.
Scroll down to Market Updater and clear cache and data.

Once this is done go to run android market place, then agree to the terms and conditions.

Noah, how is the OP going to run the Android Market Place when the application is NOT there?

@jcolivier
Search in this board for Wildman's post "minimize froyo issues... ". I don't have the knowledge or patience to get the link in this post (typing this with my phone). A factory reset is your best option as it has also been discussed before in similar disappearing market thread and solved the issue there.

Note:  Master reset for the HTC Droid Eris

If you have tired all the other steps on the device, try doing a master reset on the device.

MasterReset: Allows  you to reset device back to factory settings.

Resetting the phone deletes all data, including downloaded applications, and resets the phone back to its initial state—the state before you turned on the phone for the first time.

Important: Make sure to back up important data you have on the phone before you reset your phone.

To Factory reset the phone using the Menu (All Software versions)

  1. Touch HOME
  2. Touch Menu
  3. Touch Settings
  4. Touch Security (1.5 software)
    Touch Privacy (2.1 software)
  5. Touch Factory data reset.
  6. On the Factory data reset screen, tap Reset phone and then tap Erase everything.

Note: Reset may take anywhere from 1 - 10 minutes for reset and restart depending on amount of data on device.

Tried to Clear Data and Clear Cache but both are grayed out, with 0.00B Data and 0.00B Cache. I'm not seeing how to get to the next step.

There is only 2 ways I know that seem to work.

1. Reinstall app from a market backup apk (EStrong File Explorer works well)

2. Hard Reset of device using folloing instructions...  http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-X-by-Motorola/Minimize-Droid-X-Issues-After-Froyo-Update/td-p/2965...

I just did the factory reset following Wildman's FROYO solution (http://community.vzw.com/t5/DROID-X-by-Motorola/Minimize-Droid-X-Issues-After-Froyo-Update/m-p/29658...) and also referring to Fabrian's step-by-step guide (http://forum.androidcentral.com/motorola-droid-x/36979-bingo-i-finally-figured-out-how-get-things-st...) and it worked. Thank you!!

Noah, where in this entire thread did you get the impression that we were discussing a Droid Eris?

Yes I do have a Droid Eris but it does not have a problem with the market. Besides I did do a Factory Reset but it was around June 1st. Approximately one week after Verizon OTA update went CRAZY on my phone. My phone is so happy that I can regularly go at least one week before choosing to reboot my phone using the power button. No battery pulling in my house. LOL

That reminds me I should change my signature line.
