music on Droid X

How do I turn off the music when I through listening. There is a pause and a play option but no stop. The player stays on, paused unless the phone is powered off.

You could try hitting "Clear Playlist"

Thanks, tried that and it pauses the music, The player is still open, the last song played, qued. Press play and it starts where I left off. Is there is way to turn it off completely without powering off the phone.

Just tap on the home button. That will return you to the page you were on last.

I think the answer for this is No.  There doesn't appear to be any quick way to just stop or exit the stock music app.  You can pause it and easily leave it in that state without it interfering with the system or popping up again, but you can't close out of it.
