I sympathize with you. It ain't easy, I know. I finally got rid of it by holding my finger on it, then dragging it down and once I hit the trash can, wiggled it left and right and released my finger. It was finally gone. Good luck.

Press and hold the tipster, drag him to the trashcan at the bottom of your homescreen, when he turns red, release. Tada!
