phone storage space

My wife has the incredible and recently has the warning of phone storage space getting low. However, only 160MB used and 588MB free under all tab. On SD card tab 435MB used and 1.4GB free. Why she getting this warning?

It's probably an issue of apps storing too much data.  While in the manage apps menu (all tab), press menu, then select sort by size.  It may take a second while the list is being rearranged, but it will put the apps using the most space at the top.  On my wife's Droid, I cleared the data for her browser and facebook app and the warning went away, and half a dozen texts came in.  Also, some apps can be moved to the sd card, though it doesn't sound like that is the problem.  Another thing to check is how many emails and texts are on the phone and try to clear some of these out.  The messaging app should have a delete old messages setting, and the email app should have a setting on how many days of emails to sync (email app, not gmail).

I've had the same warning icon for a couple of weeks. I've moved over all the apps that I can to my sd card, but the low disk space warning remained. I just cleared the data for a few apps as suggested above and the warning finially disappeared...BUT...I'm still not receiving any text messages.  :smileysad:  Any other suggestions? (btw, I can send texts...just can't receive any and figured it was because I had "low disk space available"...not the case anymore)

Just reset my phone back to factory defaults...nice to have any other "issues" rectified, but I've lost my apps (need to reinstall)...AND...still no ability to recceive text messages.  Goes to show it really isn't a "space" issue.  😞

As always, the dialogue is appreciated on this topic. I would like engage in this conversation also. Here are some steps that you can try to resolve the issue. 

 

1.  Confirm that you have the most current software.

2.  Move apps to the memory card.

3.  Uninstall any unused apps

4.  Erase long text message threads & reduce the text message limit in settings (recommend 100 messages)

5.  Clear cache on most frequently used apps.

6.  Remove any unused widgets (Friendstream and Weather widgets)

7.  Limit the amount of emails saved on the device.

8.  Clear the cache, history, and and cookies from the web browser.

9.  Factory data reset (as a last resort of course)

 

Special thanks to demmo86rt for providing some of these steps in your posting. Once all the steps have been tried then please reply with your results so we cane assist further.
