I know when the screen died o my sons ENV2 but phone would power on the verizon store was able to get his saved contacts and stuff transfered to the new phone but I am not sure about text messages. We had to leave it for an hour at the store to be done so ask them and see what they can do. Mary
I was offering a suggestion for the next phone. It sounds like a little too late for the current phone. No clue about that issue.
