i have roadrunner for email on computer. When i send a video or picture to my gmail on droid the droidx shows preview but no dwnload . when you open preview it says"sorry, this type of document is not supported for viewing" any clues out there. If it's a link, say to utube i have to copy/paste it in new email and send it, forwarding won't work.

What format is file and how large? Try saving item to unit before attempting to play file and if it still does not play check file extention format.

In this case...

1. Go to Text Messages view, threader veiw that shows the pic preview when its not opened.

2. Press and hold on Pic

3. Select Save from the list

4. Now the pic should be saved in SD/Messages folder

I just ran a test on my roadrunner account to my DX.  I sent a pic from Windows Live Photo Gallery Beta using the photo email button, send as attachment (.jpg).  I chose medium size for the resolution (1024X728) and sent.  My X was on WiFi mode (3G coverage at my house is very iffy) and the pic was on my X within 5 seconds.

I think size matters......try keeping it under 1Mb and .jpg format.  See if that works.

I do not beleive size is the issue because If you are sending on wifi from your house then Roadrunner will allow you to send file because it is being sent from a verified ip address that your modem generates but when you are sending from the Verizon  network you have to have the correct access port information in the outgoing settings to send.
