screen freezes when opening messaging

I have been a lot of problems with opening a text message.  I see the green message piece on the home screen. I slide it down to the piece to unlock the screen and then the screen goes to the messaging screen and all I see is the messaging border on the top.  The screen reminds black for quite sometime before the text pops up so I can read it.  Is anyone else having this issue or know of any solutions?    Please help it soooooo frustrating.

In my Charge the Puzzle unlock did NOT work properly so I went back to the slider Glass unlock.

Go to settings>display settings>unlock screen and choose Glass Unlock.  That fixed it for me.

Make sure you reset your phone every two days or so, keeps everything running better. Also, delete as many sms message threads as possible, especially those that are larger text files with pics and such.
