Is your Droid connected to your computer using the USB ports when you try to download the apps? If so, you have to disconnect the Droid. While connected to the computer, the SD card is not seen by the Droid; that is, it becomes invisible. if it isn't, try going into Settings>Applications>Manage Applications. Once there scroll to the apps you wish to move. In the first section you will see "move to SD". Tap on that. If you see "move to phone" then the apps is already on your SD card.

I'm having the same problem. Let me know if you find a solution. My problem is happening with news related apps. I had an app and it required an update, but I kept getting the Cannot connect to USB or SD Card error. I unistalled the app and now cannot install it again (same error) This also happened with a local news station app.

Hello leolady!
I have just a couple of questions; are you able to save other media files to the SD card, such as pictures, videos or other applications? Are you attempting to download this specific application from the Market or another source, such as a website? If you are downloading the application from the Market and getting the error, you can reach out to the application developer for further support. If the application is from another source just ensure you enable "unknown sources" in Application settings on your device to allow installation of apps from other sources.
Let me know if this works out for you.
