Does the shipping date go on where you live or whe. You ordered? I ordered August 6th and it says it ships by August 24th. I don't mind the wait I just wasn't sure if it goes by area or order date. I'm from Pennsylvania.

I hope mine ships soon cause this is reduculous that it is so far on back order but Verizon keeps selling them instead of catching up on the back orders.

Your idea makes no sense.  Verizon isn't waiting until they have phones to cover all orders before they ship it out.  They are shipping the phones as they arrive at their warehouse from Microsoft.  The date they had listed on the day you ordered your phone is the expected shipping date.  If you check it a day or two after you order and see that the date has changed this does not apply to your order unless VZW tells you that your order has been pushed back.

Stopping ordering till all the current orders have shipped will not get you your phone any faster.  VZW is a business, and as such they are trying to get you your product ASAP as they cannot start charging new customers for the service before they get the product (another myth floating these forums).

So unless VZW informs you that your shipment date has been pushed back, only pay attention to the date that was listed on the day that you placed your order.

To the OP, it's based on when you placed your order.

What are you talking about? I know its when they receive it, it send out to the cumstomer. Verizon told me when I ordered it that they normally ship quicker. When i called Monday the lady told it should of shipped on Monday the 9th cause that is what her system told me as a ship date even though my email said the 24th. They dont have their facts straight and tell different things when you call to ask a question.

And also it seems from reading on here that different areas receive the purchase quicker than others. Or purchasing two and receive one before the other one. All I was trying to say is instead of continuing to sell a phone that YOU PAY FOR UPFRONT and wait a few weeks to get, catch up on the back orders and once you get that all squared awaay, worry about selling more because people are waiting for a phone but told several stories from VERIZON on when it is shipping to you.

I'm going to take a guess that you have never been involved in any successful business practices.

People are continuing to buy it while they know it is back-ordered.  So why would you kill your selling potential by only having small windows of opportunity for your customers to purchase?  The average wait time is 2-3 weeks, with some people getting it within the 1 week time frame.  Orders are still flooding in for the phone, so why in the heck would you cripple your selling potential...

If you suspend sales, you will send your customers to a different phone.

Due to overwhelming demand, delays may be experienced in shipments of Motorola DROID X handsets.

I live in Phx and it shipped today (8/13) from Ontario, CA (2 day fedex receiving on Tuesday, 8/17), My order date was 8/5 in the afternoon through verizonwireless.com. Good luck everyone. I can now shift to figuring out what apps to buy instead of looking all over the place for other's shipping experience.

as aside to an earlier comment, Verizon CAN start charging customers if they have not yet delivered on a customer's backordered phone.  I activated 3 lines on a new account and two of the phones were in-stock, so two of the three lines were activated immediately.  While I waited over two weeks for the phone, I received my first bill for the rate plan and associated active line charges.....while I am not paying the line fee for the line with the Droid X they certainly did not credit any of the cost of the rate plan back to me.........

Not complaining as I knew what I was getting into!! Glad they have a great product that is in high demand....good decision to keep moving he Droid line of phones along.
