upgrading words with friends thru google play and it won't-says need wifi but still won't reinstall or update

i have words with friends on my droid- works great- google made me do upgrade for changes which usually works- not this time.  had to uninstall and now i just clock when i try to reinstall.  say needs wifi- but that doesn't work either!  i'm lost without my w/with friends!  help
