I need help. When I connect my phone to pc with usb, I now find a CD drive. If I click to open, it tells me to put in a cd. I'm not sure what I did but this worked properly before.

The CD Drive can not be changed because this is how the hardware is configured.  Why is it a problem becaise it shows as a cd drive because it does not effect the device or pc?

Are you in storage mode, pull down the top status bar and select the storage drive option..

"Pull down the Status Bar..."
"Tap the item titled " USB connected"."
"Click the "USB Mass Storage from list"

"PC Mode"
"Windows Media Sync"
"USB Mass Storage"
"Charge Only"

The phone create two drives, ones a cd Drove and when you pull down the status bar and swith to mass storage mode you will see another drive which will be the storage card.    The CD Rom store software for device but the SD Card is the area to store your personal files..

I need the PC to see the Droid as an external drive - not a cd drive. Sorry I didn't make myself clear.

Glad that got you resolved...  As for how it changed, the setting sometimes changes when device is unplugged, this is normal and not a problem..
