voice input no longer produces adequate text in English

The Droid Charge now produces incorrect text from spoken input.  It may be a translation to a language that I don't recognize, but it is not similar to English text.  For instance, "let's go to lunch at noon and get some pasta" produces "uex groucho monster de urgenicia xoom pasta." This may have first happened after a system upgrade.  The phone formerly produced fairly accurate English text.   My phone setting for language and keyboard is English. input languages is English.  How can this be fixed?

Hi hazeldad. Sounds like you've had some very interesting voice to text conversations with your phone. Too bad it's not helping you learn whatever language that is. Here's a few places to double check on your Charge and make sure the language is set to English:

1) Settings > Language & Keyboard > Select Locale > English
2) Settings >Voice Input & Output >Voice Recognition Settings > Language > English (US)
3) Settings >Voice Input & Output > Text-to-speech settings > Language > English (United States)

Also, if there were any third party speak to text applications installed, please go to Settings > Applications > Manage Applications to uninstall any of those extra apps that may be contributing to the trouble too.

If all else fails, a Master Reset may be the last way to ease the trouble of your phone's translation issue. http://support.verizonwireless.com/clc/devices/knowledge_base.html?id=42407
